The QHHT® Interview: Why Lili Ou Calls It a Life Review

When people hear that a QHHT® (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique, by Dolores Cannon) session lasts 7 hours or more, they often assume most of that time is spent in hypnosis. It isn't. The first 3+ hours of the day are a conversation.

Dolores Cannon called this part of the session the interview. Lili Ou calls it the life review, because that is what it becomes: an unhurried walk back through a whole life, together.

What happens during the QHHT® interview?

Before any hypnosis begins, the client and Lili Ou go through their life story, from childhood to the present: the relationships, turning points, patterns and questions that have shaped it. The client's questions for the session are clarified and refined along the way.

This is not small talk, and it is not a formality. It is the foundation that allows the hypnosis to go deep and stay relevant to the person in the room.

Why is it called a life review?

Because it is a review of a life, not an intake form.

During this part of the day, Lili Ou's role is closer to that of a coach and a listener. She asks, listens, and reflects back, so that the client can see their own story with fresh eyes. Many clients find that this conversation alone brings clarity they had not expected, before the hypnosis has even begun.

How does Lili Ou prepare for a client's life review?

In one sense, she doesn't, and that is deliberate.

Lili Ou generally does not learn about a client's story before the session day. Everything unfolds on the day, in person, without prior assumptions. She holds a neutral, non-judgemental space, so that what emerges belongs entirely to the client and is not shaped by anything she might otherwise have carried in.

Following Dolores Cannon's teaching, she also takes no notes during the life review. The questions and reflections happen in full presence. Her attention stays with the person in front of her, not on a notebook.

Why does this make QHHT® a professional service?

Because none of it can be scripted.

Every client arrives with different questions, a different language, culture and life experience. Some are at the start of their career and looking for direction. Some are high achievers ready for their next level. Others come with questions about life, love and relationships. No two life reviews are the same, and none can be prepared in advance.

What the practitioner brings is not a script. It is years of accumulated knowledge, life experience and insight, and the ability to use them in the moment. When needed, Lili Ou may step into a consultant's role, drawing on nearly two decades in global banking and fintech, and on her work as an EMCC accredited coach. That experience helps her ask better questions and understand a client more quickly.

But the deeper answers still come from the client's own subconscious, and from the client themselves. The practitioner's knowledge opens the door; it does not replace what comes through it.

This is why a QHHT® session is demanding for the practitioner, not only physically, over 7 hours or more, but in the depth of presence and understanding it requires. It is also why Lili Ou works with only one client a day.

What does the life review ask of the client?

Only honesty, and a willingness to look at your life as it is.

There is nothing to prepare beyond your list of questions, and no right way to tell your story. The more openly you share, the deeper the session can go.

If you are preparing for a session, Lili Ou's guides on how to prepare for your QHHT® session and how to write your questions may help.

In short

  • The first 3+ hours of a QHHT® session are a conversation: the interview, which Lili Ou calls the life review.

  • Lili Ou does not learn a client's story in advance. Following Dolores Cannon's teaching, she takes no notes, and works in full presence, without judgement.

  • No session can be prepared in advance. What the practitioner brings is knowledge, experience and insight, used in the moment.

  • When helpful, she may offer a consultant's perspective, but the deeper answers come from the client and their subconscious.
